"Knight School" is regular monthly training session devoted to the schooling of horse, rider and support staff for participation in historical competitive jousting and skill at arms activities, as practiced in the USA, UK, and Europe.

The instructor, Jeffrey Hedgecock of the US has over 16 years experience in Medieval Horsemanship and Jousting.

Since 2003, Jeffrey Hedgecock has competed in numerous tournaments at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds England, as well as other tournaments in the US, Scotland, New Zealand, Holland, France and Belgium. Jeffrey is an internationally known armourer of 23 years experience and is a founding member of the Order of the Crescent which has jousted at the Royal Armouries "Sword of Honour" team joust since 2005, and is the only team to win the competition three consecutive years, in 2007, 2008 and 2009 (See also the Historic Enterprises Journal, issue #2).

The Order of the Crescent triumphed at WorldJoust Tournaments' "Tournament of the Phoenix 2009" in a combined competition of jousting, foot combat and club tourney.

In 2008, Jeffrey placed 2nd in the Royal Armouries Individual tournament and won the Belgian "Hackaland" tournament, and the French National Tournament at Verneuil sur Avre in 2009.

"Knight School" is held at our practice tiltyard at the Historic Enterprises workshops in Ramona, California, usually on the first Saturday of each month. Jeffrey has also taught clinics in August 2005, 2006 and 2007 at a farm in Butler, Pennsylvania as well as in Austin, Texas in 2010. Ramona is in north San Diego county, 45 minutes from downtown San Diego and about 2 hours south of Los Angeles. Out of town participants are welcome, and pick up at San Diego Airport (SAN) may be possible, with prior arrangements pending schedule considerations. We have hosted attendees from as far away as northern California, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Alaska. If you choose to attend from out of town, we have arranged a special rate with a nearby SpringHill Suites by Marriot in Poway CA.

An article about "Knight School" can be found in the Historic Enterprises Journal, issue #7.

You may also view videos of the type of jousting we train for during Knight School on the Historic Enterprises YouTube Channel.

Please see our Calendar for our next session date. Sessions are limited to 6 mounted participants and 6 participants on foot.

Private instruction is also available with at least 1 week advance notice. Weekend and mid-week sessions can be arranged.

To reserve your space, please book online at HistoricEnterprises.com. You may also call Jeffrey at 760 789-2299 or email, at least 3 days in advance of a session to check space availability.

It will aid us greatly if you send a brief description of your experience and goals prior to booking so we may ensure our program and your needs are compatible. If you wish to book a session on one of our school horses, please include your height and weight so we can determine if our mounts are suitable for your size.
